That is why it is so important that we learn to honor and submit to them. Parents and elders represent the heavenly Father's authority and love. It is for this reason that God desires that we should submit to Him. Submitting to what is good, right and true (God's will) results in abundant and eternal life. God thinks, wills, and does only what is good, right and true.
We cannot love God with all of our hearts if we embrace rebellion. Ultimately, the root of every sin is rebellion: choosing our ways instead of God's.

In watching his parents treat his grandparents respectfully, a child learns how to respect his elders. Part of training a child involves honoring one's own parents. If children do not learn to respect their parents whom they see, they will not know how to respect God, whom they do not see. I believe we may also include spiritual parents those who disciple and teach us. The blessing upon our natural lives for honoring our parents is a picture of the blessing upon our eternal lives for honoring our heavenly Father. Good parents also present the picture of God as a loving Father. All parents present a picture of our heavenly Father as the Creator of life. Honor thy father and mother which is the first commandment with promise That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth" ( Ephesians 6:1-3). "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Just as we are to ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name ( Psalm 29:2), we are to give our parents the honor due them. We are to bring honor to them and permit their words and influence to carry weight. Its meanings include "to make glorious, to honor" or "to make heavy." If God has said it, then it should be good enough for us. If we do not trust Him as Saviour, there is condemnation. If we trust Him as Saviour, there is no condemnation. This is the crux of the matter: " Whoever believes in Him," (whoever is in UNION with Christ - whoever has been placed IN Christ at rebirth - whoever has been born-again - whoever has been sealed by the Spirit - whoever has trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour) are NOT condemned.Ĭondemnation before God or justification by God comes from the choice we make about the Lord Jesus Christ. This is how the Lord Jesus put it: " God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Jesus goes on: " God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." Condemnation is a punishment that comes from a judicial sentence, and everyone that does not believe in the Lord Jesus as Saviour is already condemned, simply because they chose not to believe on the name of the only begotten Son of God.
